Parents want to know how to help their kids come down from RED, the most intense level of anger on the Grump Meter.

It's important to understand that only the individual on red has the ability to calm themselves down.

Think of a tornado. A tornado is a powerful force that's out of control. Nobody can stop a tornado, it must wind itself down. You can't reason with a tornado, or teach it how to behave.

Someone who has spun out-of-control to RED must calm down before they can interact reasonably. Parents, as hard as it is, you must give your child time and a safe place for them to calm down before you'll be able to communicate meaningfully about what has taken place.

The Grump Meter gives your child the tools he or she needs to develop self-control!
