Educators
FOR EDUCATORS
Use the Grump Meter in school, at all ages. Students do better academically, increase pro-social behaviors, decrease bullying and other negative behaviors. In school communities, we see:
· more effective communication
· academic improvement
· decreased behavior incidents
· decreased suspensions
· increased understanding, empathy, and compassion
· happier classrooms and school communities!
The neuroscience and social science research confirms what educators already know through experience: the cognitive skills most emphasized in schools – learning, attention, memory, decision making, and social functioning – are profoundly involved in and affected by the processes of emotion. Young people need emotional sturdiness to take school learning into the real-world. The Grump Meter gives students, teachers, and families tools for self-regulation—capacity for calming ourselves down, focusing and concentrating, cheering ourselves up, acting in our own and others’ best interest, and taking control of our own learning and behavior.
The Grump Meter is used in general education environments, trauma-informed schools, classrooms for academic and behavioral support, and with students experiencing challenges in relation to ADHD, anxiety and depression, and the autism spectrum.
How do we get started in our school?
We’d love to work with you to integrate the Grump Meter for your particular students, in your particular setting.
